OUR SCHOOL PARTNER
We are partnering with a new school in Sendafa, Ethiopia. This is a small town on the north-east outskirts of the capital of Addis Ababa. The school is located adjacent to our long-time partner, the Child Development Training and research Center (CDTRC). The community is one of the most impoverished in the area and the population of children is surpassing the capacity of the local schools. This new school was built by the local government as an "overflow" for about 150 pre-K children.
There are 3 classrooms and one room for the staff. They do not yet have running water, not any play equipment.
Learning "tools" are also scarce.
We hope to develop a long-term partnership with the school (through the CDTRC). So, we will start off "slow" by purchasing teaching aids, backpacks, balls for games, etc. As our team spends time with the students in Sept 2024, we will engage in crafts and games. These are often times simple things these children have never experienced. We will also fund and provide a lunch for these children.
It is estimated that it will cost: $1500 for school supplies and the meal.
