The Arukah Global team had the priviledge of attending a graduation ceremony at the facility of our partner, Ellilta - Women at Risk. One by one, as they shared bits of there stories, we witnessed tears fo joy and freedom from 19 former prostitutes who completed the one year restoration program which included both they and their children.
The counter-intuitive roll of the Arukah team was to simply be present and show the love of Christ through whatever manner presented itself.
Hugs, kisses, laughter and encouraging words were plentiful as our team spent time with graduates and their children.
As one particular woman shared her story of spending half her life selling herself to men as a way to provide for her 2 beautiful daughters, she invited the oldest one (11 yrs) up because she also had something to share.
This little one looked at the Ellilta staff and said, "Thank you for saving my mother..." She immediately began to weep...as did her mother...and everyone else in the room.
The image on this blog is one of the mother back in her seat after this precious moment. It is an image that speaks to the day: How a gracious God works through willing humans...simply making themselves available to bring about restoration those whose lives were once shattered.
Ellilta leaders and team...WE LOVE YOU.
